Overview

Product Overview

The MP1081SS USB and Surge 2 Pack safeguards common home and office devices, such as computers and electronics, by absorbing spikes in energy caused by storms and electrical power surges. Both units in the 2 pack provide a high level of surge protection - 1500J for the 4 outlet, and 2100J for the 8 outlet. Both surge protectors have two USB-A ports, and the 4 outlet adds a USB-C port to give the ability to charge mobile, USB enabled devices.

Both surge protectors feature metal oxide varistor (MOV) technology and come with One Year Limited Warranties and Connected Equipment Guarantees.

Product Features
  • Surge Protection
Diverts excess voltage away from sensitive electronic equipment during an AC power surge or power spike to prevent damage.
  • Automatic Shutdown
Protects connected electronics with the integrated circuit breaker which automatically switches off in the event of an overload that exceeds the model’s ability to suppress the signal.
  • EMI/RFI Noise Filter
Maintains clean power for connected equipment by filtering out electromagnetic and radio frequency interference to improve picture and sound quality.
  • Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) Technology
Allows normal current to pass through the device, while diverting any surges/spikes through the ground circuit, to safeguard connected electronics and the surge suppressor.
  • USB Charging Ports
Charge USB-A and USB-C compatible devices such as tablets, smartphones, and other mobile accessories.
  • LED Indicator
Illuminates to show surge protection status and proper ground
  • Impact-Resistant Casing
Ensures maximum durability and prolongs the life of the model.
  • Connected Equipment Guarantee
CyberPower will repair or replace properly connected equipment if it is damaged by a power surge.
  • One Year Limited Warranty
Covers defects in materials and workmanship in the product under normal use and conditions. See warranty for details.

Why Do I Need A Surge Protector?

Utility power supplied to electrical outlets is sometimes inconsistent. The short-duration voltage surges or spikes that occasionally happen can damage components in electronic devices such as computers and workstations. In addition to equipment damage, irretrievable data loss may occur. In the U.S., the nominal or standard voltage supplied to household and office wiring is 120 volts. A voltage surge or spike can cause electronic components to overheat, either immediately destroying them or causing permanent damage that can lead to premature failure.

A surge protector or surge suppressor provides protection against power surges. This device is located in the power circuit between the utility power outlet and the connected electronic equipment. Surge protectors work by diverting excess voltage to the ground, allowing only the nominal voltage to travel through the wiring to connected devices. This is accomplished using a variable resistance component in the surge protector called a metal oxide varistor (MOV). Under normal voltage conditions, the resistance of the MOV is such that it remains closed. As utility voltage increases beyond nominal, the MOV resistance decreases accordingly which forces the unwanted overvoltage to ground, maintaining a constant flow of nominal voltage to sensitive electronic equipment.

Support
What devices should be plugged into a surge protector?

Computers, home entertainment equipment, cable DSL/modems, phone/fax/modem, cable and satellite boxes, and other electronics you wish to protect.

What is a Connected Equipment Guarantee?

CyberPower will repair or replace properly connected equipment, under certain terms and conditions, if it is damaged by a power surge.

Should I register the CyberPower product I purchased?

We recommend that you promptly register the product you purchased. You may register online by clicking the Registration button at the top of the page.

Is this for indoor or outdoor use?

Indoor use only.

If my surge protector has a ground light, should it be illuminated (green)?

Yes. The ground indicator light should be illuminated. If the light is not illuminated, there is a problem with the AC outlet into which the CyberPower surge suppressor is plugged. If this is the case, please disconnect the surge suppressor until the problem is resolved. The problem must be resolved before the CyberPower surge suppressor can be used.

Common issues with an AC outlet include: bad ground, missed ground, or reversed wiring (usually due to sub-standard wiring, typical in residential housing built prior to 1980). You may need to contact a qualified electrician to repair/upgrade the outlet.

NOTE: Using the CyberPower surge suppressor when the ground indicator light is not illuminated will void the warranty.

If my surge protector has a surge light, should it be illuminated?

Yes. The surge light should be illuminated. This indicates that the CyberPower surge suppressor is functioning properly. If the light is not illuminated, it indicates that the surge protector has received a catastrophic surge and will need to be replaced. CyberPower will replace the surge suppressor free of charge, provided the warranty terms and conditions are met.
